From the flyleaf: In a book as provocative as he is, Howard Cosell describes his thirty-three years in broadcasting... In his usual style, Cosell spares no one in "I Never Played the Game," not even himself. Abrasive, enlightening, and entertaining, it is a book of scope and conviction that will reach into every American Household -- and you don't have to be a sports fan to love it.
I liked this book, he is a better writer than he was a broadcaster/speaker (maybe I'm more used to arrogant SOBs in print).
Howard Cosell pulls no punches. The larger-than-life sports commentator takes the lid off Monday Night Football and the "jocks" he shared the broadcasting booth with - Frank Gifford, Don Meredith and O.J. Simpson. Sports fans of all ages will recognize Cosell's famous voice as he chronicles the charges he's seen and the personalities he's known, from the perspective gained after 33 years of covering the field.
Howard Cosell is a legendary figure in sports journalism. After more than three decades in broadcasting, his name is as well-known as any of the athletes he covers.
