What can you do besides send a message to another member when they say they have mailed a box of books and now it's been 1-1/2 months and still nothing. I've sent her messages and it's like she's dropped of the face of the earth.

Contact PBS and they'll look into it for you. Other then that you can leave appropriate feedback and call it a loss. I've had it happen to me, & it's a big bummer to pay $4 and lose out on 6 or 7 books. So hopefully you'll get things worked out!

THis is one of the reasons I don't do large BOB transactions.  It's possible that they are no longer a member.  Did you check to see if their PBS account is still active and not on vacation or closed?  There really isn't anything you can do other than let PBS know so they can try and contact the member or have it at least on file if there are other complaints.  But they can't get you the books or credits for the books.

Hi Maria,

It's really not more than Leann and Mary have already said, but the Help Center does have a section for this situation:

What if I never receive my Box-O-Books?

If it's been more than a week (and I gether it has) since you PM'd the member,  do send in feedback to the PBS Team and let them investigate.

Edited to finish my sentence. :-p

You can file a missing mail report with the US Postal Inspectors office.

You are not alone. This has happened to me twice.

1. The woman said she mailed the box, I never got it and she ignored all my messages. YET, she marked that she got mine. I contacted the site and nothing happened. I emailed them twice about it too. I lost 2 books in that trade.

2. Boy boy boy . . . this person gave me the run around for awhile. She asked for 5 or 6 books from me. Very nice homeschooling books each retail costing over $19.99 each. Still all in like new condition. I made the mistake of mailing mine right away. I think even that morning we accepted the trade. She marked hers mailed that day too.

Now the 6 month waiting started . . .

a. After a week or so I still hadn't gotten mine and she said that they were returned to her. I had about 3 or 4 other BOB's going on and all came to me just fine. She said she'd mail them off again.

b. She told me they were lost in the mail. I picked more books and she said she'd send them. never got them

c. She told me she thought her husband had mailed them so she mailed them this time. I never got them.

As you can see this went on and on. I emailed her about every 2-3wks just letting her know I still hadn't got them. I was upset and figured I never would. She stopped answering all my emails. I finally left her a neg. after about 3mts later.

I mailed my BOX O BOOKS using Paypal so I was able to check and see that she did get my books about a week after I mailed them. I didn't think of checking though much later though.

THEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER -

It think it was about maybe 8mts or so later. It was a long time later . . . I saw that she marked that she got my books! She also left me a note saying something like "Thanks for the books sorry for all the trouble".

Honestly I had to laugh. I replied that I never got my books that she gave me to the run around and that I was pretty unhappy with all this.

So what have we learned??

Most of all the BOB's I've done have been great. No problems at all. I try to make sure that if the person requests books from me that I mail mine after they mail theirs. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It depends really.

I almost didn't renew my BOB but I enjoy it so much that I did.

Thanks for all the repies! This is the only problem I've had with B-O-B and at some point I will leave negative feedback. I was hoping that she would at least send me a message.  I usually mail my books right out but maybe I will hang back a bit from now on.

It looks like her account has been suspended or closed. So, I left my negative feeback and will move on. Thanks again everyone.!

Although if everyone waited to mail the BOB, no one would ever send anything out.

I like to send my BOB trading partner the DC# so that he or she can track the package and feel comfortable it is on its way.  I usually use paypal postage and it is automatically included (for only  $0.18).

Rebecca, I also use Paypal to do my shipping from home and LOVE it taht I can track the package too.

As for waiting to send it out I usually only wait 2 days at the most. Also I always make a point to let the person know when I will send it.

I just got offered one day this and let the person know it will be late due to the dental work I'm having tomorrow (shiver). She was very understanding.
