hey all I'm new round these parts but I am most definately intrested in being a writer.

I have participated in NaNoWriMo in november and won (with a novel and a half, bit of a story in and of itself) and script frenzy was something I started last year but illness killed it for me. This year I wanted to prove I could do better and wrote five scripts in the month.

I'm already pondering what story ideas to drag out of my note books and use in november again, and I have decided that some time this summer I intend to try and do a charity writeathon, where people sponsor me in my attampt to write thirty stories in thirty days. The proceeds to go to a charity (I'm thinking of make a wish).

That will be a stretch for me because the idea is 1000-3000 word stories in multiple genres. and while script frenzy neted me 100,000 words plus more, it was only five scripts. Short formats are trickier for me.

But I'm facing some other hurdles right now. No job and rent just jumped a hundred dollars a month.

I'm also working on some other projects for personal challenges (Big Fun Scary Challenge, and 43things.com). Spring cleaning (where do you think the books in my list here come from?). and a chronic ailment that I am only marginally able to manage.

Sorry if that is a bit much but it's sort of my introduction on these boards.

Welcome. Sounds like you have the writing part down. Just what you listed is more words than I think I've written in my entire life. I'm new to writing. Maybe you could share some tips on how to motivate yourself to actually write. I tend to spend most of my time just goofing off on the internet.

I like your bookshelf. The areas that I read (and the areas where I want to write) include fantasy and you have a lot. I've started collecting fantasy books for inspiration.

Welcome again. Hope to see you around the forum.

actually right now I'm on a star wars binge.

Back in my highschool days I was a big dragonlance fan. That's mostly what is listed in the fantasy section of my list. My freind once quipped that I was likely the sole means of support for the setting, I had so many. Well now the thing is I don't have space, and I don't have money. So I'm looking to releive the space problem if I can and use the PBS credits on books that won't need to be bought. Thus feeding my bibliphile nature for near nothing. What can't be swapped here in the next few weeks Will get resorted and sold in lots on ebay if possable. or through amazon.

My genre of choice for reading is usually science-fiction with fantasy for a good second place. But I'm an arts and crafter and also a referance geek too.

When I write though no mater What I try to do It usually comes out as some kind of sci-fi, fantasy. I tried to write a noir story in april and it came out as having people with powers in it. My teen drama idea ended up with one of the characters devising a fictional setting for the characters to write in. It was full of anthropomorphic secret agent types.

I think my imagination just gets too bored with the everyday stuff.
