Just a quick question, I am a new Boxer and have noticed that some people that I have accepted offers from seem to wait until they receive my swap before sending my request out. Is this ok? I see that there aren't any deadlines listed for boxers, but it just seems funny to me for someone to just wait for my books to arrive before they send the items I was swapping them for. I know that people are busy, and when I know that I cannot go to post office right away I will usually drop them a PM to say their item will be mailed over the weekend or at least in ina few days. Am I being sensitive about this? Have you noticed this in your Box of books swaps?

Welcome to boxing Rica. Yes, quite a few people seem to do this. While I don't necessarily agree with it, I don't think it is actually wrong either. Some people have unfortunately gotten burned on previous trades and have become very cautious as a result. It is sad that it has to be this way. As long as I eventually receive my books, I don't let it bother me too much. I have much better things to do. Like reading, LOL! Hope this gives you somewhat of an idea. Boxing can be a really great experience. Just remember, the key word is patience, patience, and patience. Enjoy. Pam |

Try to read the feedback on the boxer before trading too... sometimes people will give a positive rating, but say things like, "Took a while, but..." or "Wow, these books look really well-read!" or "Only one was water-damaged!" Don't forget to use the "Search boxer's shelves" option for books on your reminder list too... if I'd noticed that in the beginning, it would have saved me looking at a lot of random boxer's shelves! I, too have had a few box trades where I've had to send a PM or 2 to get things resolved, but have had mostly positive results. Most people don't seem to take longer than a week to mail, & someone DOES have to click "Mailed" first... (Now I just have to get through Mt. TBR so I can start trading again!) Welcome to boxing... hope your experience is a good one! Last Edited on: 3/16/10 12:08 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I tend to be a bit slow mailing out my boxes since we don't go to the PO that often, and I have to rely on hubby to find the books, and then to wrap & mail them. He really does a great job, but not always on the same day, so things get a little behind, especially if someone accepts right after we've been to the PO, then they aren't going out till the next mailing, and they may mail the next day, making it look like I waited on them. But I really didn't my mailing has nothing to do with when they mail, it has to do with when I get my books around and hubby gets to the PO, which isn't always the next day. I know there are some people that actually do wait until they receive to mail, but even tho it looks like it, sometimes it really isn't the case. It would be a disaster if two people boxed with each other and both waited for the other person's books to arrive wouldn't it? I've often wondered who would give in first in that case hahahaha |
