Used to be when editing a book to add a description all I had to do to change to italic or bold was click on the appropriate button in the text editing box and the text would switch to bold or italic as I was typing.

But the new computer won't do that. Like on here, as I type this text, the buttons above don't work. What I have to do is go back, highlight the text I want to change, and then click on the effect I want.

Also, the keyboard shortcuts don't work either. If I press ctrl+I for italic, nothing changes. I have to, like above, go back and highlight and then press ctrl+I.

I think it may have something to do with some kind of security setting in the computer but what exactly I don't know.

Can anyone tell me how to get my computer to allow me to type in bold or italic without the tedium of going back and highlighting every time I want to change the text?

I bet if you ask this question in CMT Greg or someone else will have the answer.
