I was at Target a few days ago and saw some book that was hard covered and called "The book for bad girls" or something like that then one also for boys. I thought it was some lame book not worth looking at so passed it by. Well tonight while waiting for some meds to be filled I browsed the book section. I saw the books and picked them up. I LOVED THEM! But they were like $18 each. These books look like ones published years ago. They were huge and full of all kinds of clean, old fashioned fun for kids. For girls there was like jump rope songs, poems, nature trips and cool stuff. For boys there was symbols of flags, bug info, names leaves and stuff like that. I would LOVE to get these books and wanted to look online for a better price. But I can't remember the name or author. Do you know what I am talking about? The books were large hard backed, very plain cover with "The book for bad girls" or something. Very thick. Seen at Target and Kroger. Thanks!

I'm browsing Amazon.com now but don't see it. It is not: Mark Twain's Book For Bad Boys and Girls

We've got this book http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780879234492-The+American+Boys+Handy+Book+What+to+Do+and+How+to+Do+It+Nonpareil+Book+29 , it was also at Target.  Seeemd like alot of the same content and cheaper.  :o) I think my husband enjoys it more than the boys.  There is also one for girls.

Oh--I love the American Boy's Handy book, and the American Girl's Handy book! My brother and I bought them for each other when we were pretty young, and both copies have seen quite a bit of "loving" in the last decade. I've never seen the "daring" or "Dangerous" books, but if they are anything like the "handy books" then they'll be worth every penny. :-)

Yes they are right about the new books. Now I will tell you of two other books---

Two paperback books with more info in it than those is American Boys Handy Book and the American Girls Handy Book which were originally published about 100 years ago. I think the 2 new ones are more like knock-off's, less info with more white space on the page and in a hard cover.

So there is another one to look out for, put on your PBS wish list! :)

I was happy to find the boys book at a library sale for 50 cents (used), they are also new at Amazon. HTH.
