This book is a bit worn, but all the pages are there... no real damage. I am glad I received it for I had never read anything by this author. New Orleans is the first of a Civil War era trilogy and I am looking for the other two.
From the back cover: New Orleans...the cotton kindom's capital of splendor and sensuality on the eve of the Civil War, where great families rule, beautiful women were revered, fortunes were mae on the turn of a card, and lives were ended with the thrust of a dueling sword.

Rafe, an Irish immigrant, and Lazare who possesses the power of his birth and wealth fight a struggle to win Chantal, the daughter of the most powerful family in New Orleans. A story that even shocks the most romantic city in America at a time when drama and passion set the world on fire.
