Yay, its out and you liked it? I like Chance. I have had good luck finding her books at the thrift store here. Hopefully that reader/donator gets it quick since I am 90th on the WL here :)

It's actually a follow up to a short story in an anthology that I can't remember the name of as of yet.

I'll have to check it out. I put it on my wish list, but if I'm out I'm purchase instead.

Oh no Marie!  I didn't realize it was a follow up to a short!  Now I'm going to have to go in search of the anthology as well :-(

ETA:  I just searched her site and she has only written in 3 anthologies so far, and as far as I can tell none of them are prequels to this book.....

You know what....I'm thinking she had it on her website ages ago and not in a book...I'm racking my brain trying to remember...It was awhile ago that I read it but I know I read something!  The only short I can find that was published is in On the Prowl...and that certainly isn't the right story.

since i happened to read the last Karen Chance book - which had a preview for this book in the back - and On The Prowl fairly close together, i noticed that in the excerpt Dorina is concerned about her roommate Claire, who's been missing for a month, and that it sounds like that's probably the same Claire from the story in On The Prowl.

if the was a story about the main character Dorina, i don't remember ever reading it.

if i hadn't happened to have read them both the same week (i remember, because i was on vacation), i would never have connected the story in On The Prowl with Midnight's Daughter ahead of time.  i did a quick flip through the story this morning before posting the first time, and didn't see Dorina mentioned, but i could easily have missed a short mention of Claire's roommate in my fast flip.

and very possibly that's not the only story, but i thought i'd mention what i noticed.  :)

So, I just started reading this one a few minutes ago, and I'm pretty sure that Claire from the short story in On the Prowl, is the missing roommate Claire from this book.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, this book is set in the same world as the Cassy Palmer series, I hope so, that way it will be easier for me to understand all her "world" words.

She is the same Claire. I thought it was very cool that Karen Chance did it this way.

I read this a couple of weeks ago, and it is the same world as the C. Palmer series - though she isn't in the new series (yet).  One of the other characters is, but it's probably too much of a spoiler to tell you who & why if you haven't read the Palmer books.
