An easy read at only 300 pages and gives a great review of Moraine and Siuan's backgrounds as accepted and Aes Sedai. Much information can be learned in this book about the White Tower and the Aiel Wars. Moraine and Lan's meeting among the many different stories.

This book is an epic beginning to a masterfully crafted saga. By taking us back to the "before times" I was compelled to read again the expansive and detailed story once more. New spring added another dimension and a new depth to the story I did not have the first time around. A must read for any Jordan fan, especially Wheel of Time fans.

Excellent story! Sets the stage for the Wheel of Time series but also a great read on it's own.

I read the Wheel of Times series years ago and never read Spring. When I decided to re-read the series, I began with the prequel New Spring. To my delight, it begins with Moraine as an accepted, learning and training at Tar Valon. She and her best friend, the future Ameylin Seat, are working in the current Ameylin Seat's offices when they over hear a prophesy of the Dragon Reborn, a baby born on the slopes of Dragonmont. Thus begins the search for a baby with the last king of the seven towers at her side. Excellent!

I fun read that sets some of the back story about WoT. Clearly written afterwards. Can be read anytime after the first three books. Really just about Lan and the early years of Moiraine and Siuan.

I read this book first before reading the series this time around (I have read the entire series once before). This book is about more about Siuan, Moiraine and Moiraine's Warder, Lan. To me it sets the stage for things to come.

Great Series of Books!

This book filled in some areas that had been hinted at in the other books. You get a good understanding of who Moiraine and Lan were before they showed up in the Two Rivers. More than that, you discover the WHY of a lot of issues.

It is a must read for the fans of this series.

Great book. Adds depth to the actual series. In essence like the hobbit.
