Just read that he'll be releasing Doctor Sleep, a sequel to The Shining, sometime in 2013!  He posted this on stephenking.com:  "If you're looking for a return to balls-to-the-wall, keep-the-lights-on horror, get ready. And don't say you weren't warned."  I can't wait!!

He reads from the introduction to the book here:  http://savannahnow.com/do/2012-02-27/stephen-king-reads-first-pages-shining-sequel-dr-sleep-savannah-transcript#.T1QetIeLMk8  (It takes a while for him to get to the reading, but I always love listening to him speak.  If you want to skip ahead, the reading begins at somewhere near the 40 minute mark.)

I heard about this, and I'm looking forward to it.  The Shining remains one of my favorites.  I'm never interested in the previews, though.  I like to wait until I have the whole thing in my hands.

I can definitely relate to wanting the whole book instead of a preview, Matt.  I am usually like that, but couldn't resist listening to King himself read an excerpt.  Of course, now I'm dying to hear the rest and now I have to wait until sometime next year!

I think they said Stephen King was narrating the regular audio release, too.  That could be interesting.  I usually prefer to listen to a book read by the author.  maybe it's just my imagination, but I think it helps retain the original tone.

I agree, Matt.  I'm currently listening to The God Delusion and I love that it's narrated by Dawkins.

Excellent, Tasha.  Richard Dawkins is one of my heroes.  I listened to that, and I think he's a great reader.  He and his wife, Lalla Ward, also read his newest book The Magic of Reality.  Dawkins also reads abridged versions of The Voyage of the Beagle and The Origin of Species that are very good.
