Hello everyone!  I am new here and would like to know if there is a way to earn credits any faster or does it just take time to accumulate them.   I have already had 2 requests and am sending out the two books tom. I have quite a few books posted, but is there a way to find out what people want so I could see if I have any?  Any advice on using this site to its fullest would be greatly appreciated. I am working towards getting all the books from Before Five in a Row and some Sonlight books. I usually sell everything on Ebay, but their no teachers manuals has forced me to try other things. :(  This is a really neat place! Hope to get to know more of you better!

Thanks in advanced!

Nicki,

Welcome to PBS :)  Yes there are ways that you can get your bookshelf showcased to generate more activity onto your shelf. You can use the Bazaar section and offer deals such as 2 for 1 , 3 for 1 etc. Just look around there and you will see how others use this method to promote their shelf. You also can go to Search/clubwish and it will show you the top 50 requested. Another section to check out is the childrens and they have an ongoing sticky that people can offer deals on their children books. This is a way to see what others have to offer. Happy hunting. This site is addicting!!

BTW I also have 6 blessings!!

Hi Nikki!  Welcome!  You can check under community in TOP 50 for the most wished for books.  Lots of times I check under search then click on Club Wishlist.  I type in the ISBN of the book I am considering swapping.  It will let you know if there is a wishlist for the book and if so, how many are waiting.  Those are the two ways I can think of.  Oh yes, since you may not have your wishlist filled.....yet.  You can also put things on your wishlist then move your arrow over the grey circle with the ! mark and it will tell you what number your request is in the wishlist line.

Hope that helps and if I think of other ways to check it I will let you know.  Blessings, Carrie

You can buy credits but I have never had to do that. This website sells them at the kiosk for $3.45 or sometimes members that have too many (is that even possible) sell them for a bit less. I think this is found at the Book Bazaar.  Welcome to PBS, I wil warn you that it is addictive ;-)

There is a tab at the top of the page Community/Discussion forums/Book bazaar that is where people list all of their deals

If you input a book's ISBN you can see if any people have it on their wish list and if so, how many. For example if you are unsure if you are ready to let go of a certain book but see lots are waiting for it and you need credits then it may make the decision for you, and you can then list it.

Sometimes when I'm needing HS books I may cull cookbooks or old hobby books I'm no longer using to get the credits I need. sometimes needing the credits helps me let go of books I was for some reason not ready to let go of yet. LOL.

I also peek at the most requested books and if I see them for 50 cents or $1 used someplace (like at my local library) then I buy them and post them. That to me is cheaper to get the books I want then to buy a book I want used or at its full price. KWIM?

If you have used HS curriculum you can sell it (not used up workbooks but you know the other stuff) then you can post a note here advertising it. If you have older out of print books that are in high demand those can be hard to find in the PBS system due to no ISBN so you can post it then advertise it here if it is the type that many HSers like (i.e. Landmark series, Signature series, etc.).

also if you go through all the books you own and seriously cull them down and post them ASAP it will help build credits. A couple of months ago I got rid of a lot of adult fiction books that I had not yet read and decided I really didn't care enough about the plot summary to spend my time reading it. A lot were snapped up instantly and now I have credits sitting waiting to be used when my wish listed books are put into the system.

Have fun here!

If you post the books that you already have, but haven't found time to read yet, on your TBR (To Be Read) page the system will show you which ones are wishlisted (WL'ed). If there is an "A" after the "W", then someone has that on Auto-request, which usually means that the book will go pretty fast.

You can also look at people's profiles to see what books they have on their WL. You can offer it directly to them by posting it from their WL. Just be sure that you check the ISBN # VERY carefully!! I would suggest that you start with the WL's of the people that post in this forum. I usually right-click on their name and choose "open in a new window" so I can read their profile first, and then click the bookshelf button from there.

There are a couple of us on here that have all of our books on Auto-Request if you need a credit right away for a specific book.

I would have to buy credits or post something from my TBR list at this point, since I just spent my last credit for a WL'ed book offer, but I usually try to keep a few ahead.

I agree with Nina - Is it even possible to have too many credits?? I plan to run a special next week, since I'm first for many of my WL books....  I'll add it to my profile & Forum sig line too. I'm not a fan of the Book Bazaar.

I hope you enjoy it here!!
