I have two issues the first is I ordered a book 1/19 and it still hasn't arrived (and since then i've received a bunch more.) I PM the person who sent it out asking if they had any info or a DC# , I sent two PM's because my son has been waiting and waiting..... and they won't PM me back??? My second question is how long do you wait for a BOB to be completed ?? Two different people PM'd me I accepted and they both never got back to me so I have 2 stacks of books waiting to be mailed???
Besides Patience anyone have any advice?? |

About your first issue, since I know nothing about BOB, It hasn't quite been a month yet, and media mail can be very slow, so I wouldn't panic. If the book doesn't end up arriving, PBS will mark it lost in the mail automatically and you will get your credit back. PBS advises waiting about a week before re-ordering, though, just in case your book is taking the scenic route. How long has it been since you sent the PMs? Not everyone checks their account every day. You can also check to see if their account is on vacation hold, which could account for the lack of response. If the person had purchased DC through PBS, that information would already be available to you. I doubt they know any more about the book's status than you do. |

I sent one message 2/4 and another today. How do I check if someone has a vacation hold? |

How do I check if someone has a vacation hold? Try going to their bookshelf. To do this, click on PM button by book in proper tab (books I've requested or En route to me). Click on blue screen name. This will take you to their shelf or profile. If you are at their profile, click on shelf. Even if a member's shelf is on hold, they are still responsible for the transaction that were in progress at the time shelf was put on hold. |

FYI, there are definately people who get annoyed with being pm'd early when it's not time for a book to go lost yet. So, they don't respond. I'm not saying it's ok (I think it's kind of rude) but I've definately seen posters talk about being annoyed about being "hassled" by receivers when the book is in the mail. Patience is definately the key on this site. It works fabulously, it's just not an instant gratification thing. And it never fails, that the book you're the most anxious to read (or your child is!) will take the longest to get there. And the one you're not so worried about arrives in 3 days. I've learned that with my daughter, if it's something she's really anxious for then I probably need to go the bookstore route. Unless, of course, I'm teaching her a lesson in delayed gratification! Pretty soon you'll have a rythm of books moving out and in your household but at the beginning everybody waits by the mailbox. Happy trading! |
