I have a few questions about some books I have.  I have some library books that I would like to post.  Is there anything different I need to do when I post them so that when a requestor asks for the book they know that it is a library book?  All the books are in good condition and can be traded they just have library stickers on the spine and the back.  I looked through the help docs but all I could see was that it was ok to post library books but nothing about how to catorgize them as ex-library books.  My second question is about the weather or not I can post two books.  The first book looks like it is in perfect condition but the pages of the book and the cover are seperated.  The glue that holds the spine to the cover is gone.  The pages of the book are fine and there is no tearing or bending of the cover.  Can I post the book and if I do how do I warn the person who requests the book that the pages and the cover are not together?  The second book I have questions about is in good condition but the front cover is torn off.  The cover on the spine and back is attached to the book and are fine.  So again can I post the book and if I do how do I warn the person who requests the book that the front cover has been torn off?

Thanks for your help.

post the library books, they are fine and it is the requestors job to put in thier conditions they do not want library books. The other 2 books you mentioned are not postable. You can add them to your signature line or offer them in the book bazaar.

Hi Arica,

Welcome to PBS, I hope you enjoy your membership here as much as I do mine.

As for the ex-library books, they are fine and as such do not need any communication with the ordering member prior to sending. If the ordering member doesnt want ex-library books or books with stickers, they can include those conditions in their Requester Conditions. If a member has such RCs, you will be given a chance to review and accept the conditions before accepting the order.

As for the other two books, they do not sound like they meet the basic PBS guidelines for posting. The separation of the pages from the cover and the missing cover would prevent them from being postable for swapping. You can offer them as a freebie with an order from your shelf by posting in the Book Bazaar Discussion Forum, or in the Damaged Book thead in the Book Bazaar you can offer them free, no strings attached.

In addition to what everyone has already said, I'd suggest you give the Help Center a good read, particulaly the "posting guideline" section.  You'll find that most of the questions you've asked so far (and you are sure to have more!) are covered there.

With regard to the book with the missing cover, it is worth mentioning that the Help Center states:

"note that a paperback missing its front cover is  usually an illegal, unsold copy"

I don't know that I would offer that one myself, even as a freebie, as those books are supposed to be destroyed (the covers get sent back to the publisher for credit), and the author gets no royalties from them.
