I know this has been posted, I tried the search...I swear it! I'm just not sure so I'm asking. I'm brand new to this, so please bear with me. I have the latest James Patterson "Double Cross" that I only finished today. Two nights ago, my pyrenees puppy decided it looked like a snack. He tore into the spine (I remove the dust covers when I'm reading them.) so the cover is definitely messed up, but I duct taped it to make it smooth. It's a fantastic book, and not a single page of the inside has been damaged. This happened before I even joined (which was yesterday) so I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in this book. When I posted my books yesterday, I didn't see an option to mention that the book was damaged. Is this possible? Do people even bother with damaged books. Thanks for any insights. ~L. |

Lori, Welcome to PBS! In Book Bazaar, you can offer your book as a freebie with an order from your shelf. Or there is a "Post Your Damaged Book Here" thread in Book Bazaar where you can post your book as a freebie. You can't post a damaged book on your shelf, though. It's unpostable now. YOu can offer it as a freebie but you can't send it out for a credit. If you do, you'll most likely get a complaint against you. Read the guidelines for what is considered postable. A book doesn't have to be in mint condition to be posted on here but there are things that make them unpostable. These are all listed in the PBS guidelines. They will suspend your account if you get a lot of complaints for sending out unpostable books. |

Excellent! Thank you both for your replies. I've been slowly making my way through the site, but haven't yet seen the book bazaar...I'll hit that place next. It just seemed a shame that a newly released book couldn't be shared with others. I wasn't really interested in the credit, just wanting to send it on to another Patterson fan. I have boxes and boxes of books, and I think I'm going to really enjoy this site. Thank you again! ~L |

Patty, this "puppy" (7 mos old, and 75# of miscreant!) is on his way to jail...literally! We've tried everything, and finally heard about a program in a correctional facility. It's our last resort. I don't have the heart to get rid of him, but I just don't have the income to replace everything he destroys, such as all six of my dining room chairs. Would you like a puppy? ;) |

Lori, you'll love the book bazaar. It's a great way to get unpostable books to loving homes or to find a few treasures. Just make sure that you notice the distinction: If you want to send the unpostable as a "freebie with order" from your shelf, you can't post it in the "damaged books thread." That thread is for books you're willing to send out for free with no strings attached. Welcome! |

Ahh, good to know. Thank you, Kristen. I'm slowly but surely finding my way around here, and I apologize in advance for my newbie questions. Thanks to all that have replied. In a very short time I've learned much! Happy reading! Lori |

The Book Bazaar is a blast. Your unpostable books will find homes with people who want to read it. Don't worry : ) |
