I had a book requested yesterday. The RCs included the usual 'non-smoking home' one, plus a sentence saying that they collect books by the author of the requested book and are willing to take ones that are older editions, maybe not in perfect condition. Earlier in the day, I had posted several good-condiion pre-ISBN books by that author. I PMed the requestor, to say if she'd like to look at my bookshelf, she might find some more she wanted, and that I also have several unpostables by that author that I'd be willing to send along as bonus books. So she went and looked, requested five more, and is getting some bonus unpostables as well. I'm off to the branch post office right now.

That's cool!

I'd been wondering if it would be acceptable to use a "reverse" RC like this one-- that is, stating that I will accept books that DON'T meet PBS conditions. I might just try it!

I'm glad it worked out for Margaret, but a lot of members are against this practice, as it seems to encourage folks to post non-postable books.   We have the book bazaar and there are other book swapping sites where books that don't meet PBS guidelines can be swapped.  Just my $.02 :-)

Cheers,
Catt

I agree with Elizabeth. Let's leave the unpostables off the bookshelves and in the book bazzar or on their profile page. Too many folks don't read and follow the PBS guidelines already -- no sense in encouraging them.
