Helped my daughter prepare for first grade. Her first grade teacher read it to her the first week of school.

The text of this book goes along with the poem the Night before Christmas and take Penny and Jenny to first grade after preparations are made the night before. Is a challenge to keep with the poetry and read it. Rhyming names of the kids and their new friends. Some of the original phrases from the Christmas poem. Cute for 6 year olds.

"The Night Before" books by Natasha Wing are great at preparing kids for new events (kindergarten, vacation, new baby, Christmas, etc.) and this one helps prepare a child for the transition from kindergarten to first grade. The pictures are bright and colorful, the text is fun and rhymes, and the theme is simple. In this one, a little girl can't wait to see her best friend from kindergarten in her first grade class, but then discovers that they are in different classes. Young children will definitely be able to relate to the situations in this series and will enjoy reading and re-reading these books.

Great easy reader about the kids' nerves before starting school. Easy to read for beginner readers or to read as a family.
