i thought this was really cute and frankly, i don't see why it's on the banned books list. seriously. it's not a big deal to kids if adults don't make it a big deal.

"In the Night Kitchen" has been one of my favorite picture books since it was published. How Sendak makes a kitchen counter look like New York City at night is a masterpiece of illustration - and Mickey's rhyming dream-adventure is as enthralling - though much shorter - than Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" dream.

I don't have a problem with the little boy's nakedness. I do have a problem with him frolicing around naked in front of three strange men. And he gets a reward of cake at the end...creepy. And the plot reads like an LSD trip. This one got recycled (into new paper, I mean) at my house, not swapped.
