John Sailhamer, Ph.D., besides being my uncle, is a very insightful and colorful commentator on the Old Testament. He thinks that it is now accident that the Jewish culture that gave us Cecil B. DeMille and Sam Goldwyn also was responsible for penning the Old Testament. The stories --- and the power of story as a means to reveal the nature of God ==- is a recurring theme in his work. This is a very readable commentary. {I have two copies, which is why I'm swapping my uncle's book!)
