I know there are at least a couple of profusely illustrated nonfiction books about the wave of marriages in the late nineteenth/early twentieth century between American heiresses and impoverished British aristocrats. I read one at least 10 years ago and traded it away, pre-PBS. I'm looking for books that cover the whole trend, not individual cases. Winston Churchill's mother, Jennie Jerome, and Consuelo Vanderbilt are the ones who come to mind. Can anyone suggest titles/authors? Advance thanks.

I don't know of any specific books, but I read this article http://edwardianpromenade.com/women/the-american-heiress/  perhaps it might lead you to something.  I will keep looking.

Thanks so much! I've bookmarked that article, as there's a useful-looking bibliography at the bottom of the page. Now to go and look them up...
