I finally got a book that has water damage!! Yay!! The packaging was waterproof and intact so I could only assume that the liquid stains/wavy, curly pages happened before being sent.

I know, sounds weird to be cheering...but I read all these threads about people getting damaged books, RWAPs everywhere, big long complicated RCs spawned by people getting so many RWAPs etc....and I keep thinking how weird I am that I so rarely have a problem transaction. I just went past the 1500 book received mark and have had so few...and most of the few RWAPs I have had were because of packages ripping open, wrong format or they sent an ARC, stuff like that...only a couple out and out damaged books...it's been years since I had one of those.

Now I can relate to you all better! Yay!  Well, sort of--the transaction has already been resolved with the credit returned, the sender politely admitting her mistake...no lame excuses or anything. Even my RWAPs are atypical. LOL

lol, I really am not sure how abnormal it is to not have to deal with RWAPs .  I have had a few (and I mean very few) and have never had to fight to get my credit back (each time it was from reasonably new members who apparently posted without reading the posting guidelines).  From what I have seen most transactions go through without a hitch, there is just the occasional hiccup that must be caught and dealt with.  But hey, welcome to the water damaged RWAP club cool

I have a book that is very chewed up and another totally submerged water damaged book. If you'd like, I could send them to you and refuse to refund the credits because this is a USED booksite anyway and the books are readable (you don't really need to read the end of those top two sentences that have been chewed off) . After all these books are free and what are you a bookseller anyway being so picky?!?! cheeky

I have only received 2 seriously bad books and a handful of minor RWAPs. All were resolved; one very indignant about it, but did she new she had sent an unpostable book. I think we only notice the bad stuff so it seems more frequent than it is.

I'm pretty normal in that aspect as well. I've received a couple RWAP-PO and one was due to poor wrapping. Otherwise my only troubles have been two books that went lost within a week of each other.

Any damage I've found after marking a book received has been so minor that even if I noticed it before marking it received I doubt I would have bothered even asking for a credit refund.

LOL Melanie, when I am crabby and spoiling for a fight I'll request your waterlogged book, ok? We could even have a forum war if you want. Ooooh...LOL

Cindy...yeah. I kind of figured I wasn't *really* fooling anyone. :D

Sue, how about if I forward this water damaged book to you, that way we can get a lot of mileage out of it and you won't be an RWAP virgin anymore. LOL Then you can pass it along to someone else who hasn't got anything to complain about. :)

I know that most transactions go through just fine with no problems...that's totally been my experience. We tend to post to complain more than to give kudos or cheer, which is normal human nature I think, although discouraging sometimes.

Anyway, here's to another 1500 books with minimal problems! Cheers!

Same with me!  I have only had one problem with a book received and it was OBVIOUSLY damaged by the Post Office. it sucked cuz it was a book I really really wanted and the exact edition of it and I had been waiting for a long time for it too!

I have only had one case of 'disappointment' when I opened a book package and that was very mild - the book had stickers on the cover and was just an 'ugly' copy, ya know?  Otherwise, all of my trades have been fantastic with books arriving in great shape!

I am dreading my first RWAP . . . I dont like confrontation!
