I have two books that are somewhere in the mail. I've looked at the help topics and I didn't quite grasp what was being said. One book was requested November 28 , got printed on December 1 and December 5. The transaction record says it was mailed on December 5. It's on it's way to me in Michigan from Florida. PBS as sent me one e-mail telling me to mark it received if it has been. The other book was requested December 15, got printed and mailed according to the transaction record on December 15. This one is coming from somewhere in Michigan. In the help topic I was trying to find out what happens if I don't get the books. I read I get my credit back. That's not a problem. It wasn't a wish list book I searched for the title and ordered it. I think the first request didn't get a reply (if my memory isn't too faulty) and this was the second person to have the book. If I don't get these two books, neither was a wish list book, what do I do if anything? I'd really like to get the books since they're a part of a series. Thanks for the assistance. If you don't mark it received by a certain date, PBS will automatically declare them lost in the mail and you get your credit back. Be patient, though. This is a crazy time for the P.O. I have one about to time out, too. |

I know I'll get the credit back if it's lost but do I have to do anything to request the books again? This is a first for me. Last Edited on: 12/24/08 11:15 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

You'll have to request the books again. I just had two books on their way to me go lost (I got the paper wrapper which had been taped really well). I re-ordered both books since they weren't wishlist books. |

If you aren't in any rush for the books, I would wait a little bit before re-ordering them. Per the help center ~~ It is not uncommon for books that have been declared "Lost in the Mail" at PBS to arrive at their destinations.

Barbara, Thanks! Lori, I saw that part but wasn't sure what I had to do if anything since they were requested not WL I appreciate the help. |

If they books are in the PBS system, when they go lost in the mail they will go to your Reminder List and sit there until you request them again. Once they do go lost, I would PM the sender and see if there was some delay or problem with the book or if they used any kind of DC on the book. I would wait the 2 weeks before re-requesting, just in case the lost books show up. If they do show up after being declared Lost In The Mail, you go into your transaction archive and you can mark them received from there which'll give the sender their credit. |

PBS has marked the first book lost in the mail. It's then put on your reminder list and they advise waiting two weeks before requesting the book again. They even suggest putting it on my WL rather than searching for it. Now I know what happens with a lost requested book. I did get my credit back. And, please mark the book received if it does arrive. |

And a second update. The book that was supposedly mailed December 15 arrived today. Postmarked January 2, 2009. It's a post office label. A well used book but I can't say it has a problem. The first hasn't shown up. I ordered it from Amazon because it's the first of a series I want to read. It took two days to arrive from Kentucky. In a little while I'll be posting a once read book. |
