I got a book recently that I marked received in good condition after a cursory look at the cover and back pages.   It didn't have any external issues and I didn't flip through the book as I should have because there's a lot of highlighting, underlining, and minor notes.

Is there anything I can do now or is it too late?  The sender didn't send me a PM about the highlighting or underlining.

I guess this is a lesson learned the hard way.  I'll be more careful about inspecting the books I receive.

Well, you could try sending the other member a note about it, but many people feel (as I do), once you mark a book received normally, you really can't expect to resolve an issue that you notice after the fact.

But the good news is ... when you are done with the book, it is still postable, as long as you, yourself, follow the PM rules for posting it.

I think everybody has this happen at one time or another ... you just learn to check over books more carefully when receiving them.

At least the writing is not permanently unpostable, like unnoticed water damage woudl have been.

Thanks, I'll be more careful next time.

I woulld still send them a pm and let them know theire was highlighting and share the rules for books with highlighting.  Some people don't read the rules thouroughlly so you may make someone aware. They might think before they send a book with highlighting without a pm next time.

I had that happen to me very recently.  You should at least PM them about the highlighting but sometimes they will deny it.  That is what I faced.  The book has a lot of highlighting, writing and underlining in the middle, in one area and it was close to the center spine.  She refused to refund my credit and told me to send the book back.  When I asked for her address, she stopped PMing.  Guilty?  I had another person call me some nasty names.  I now look very carefully at the books when they come in.  Don't be in a hurry to mark them received; take time to really scan it.  Highlighting is of course a little harder to spot sometimes.  I look at them two and three times before clicking received.

Nancy, that is so true.  I have made at least 1 person aware of the rules that had no idea.  I think some people might be overwhelmed at how much there is to read about in the help docs.

Ok, I emailed the sender.  She's very new.  Joined last month so I'm guessing she just didn't know the rules re: underlining and highlighting.
