Okay Bonnie, Did you say you've lived in Rhode Island? Well, so did my DH and even though he currently has no NE accent, he sent me this. Cleared up a lot for me when I hear him talking with his family, but sheesh, I'm still scratching my head over "a coffee cabinet"! (For those of you who don't know, it's a drink much like a milkshake with coffee ice cream, coffee syrup and milk.) ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikdawnIY8RA |

Ha Jeanne that was great and RI is soooooo small that the guy that performed is my friends husband!!! Hahahahahah no kidding! He is part of the Charlie Hall show. They lambaste all the politicians perfectly! Yes most people speak like that here but I was born and raised in Mass. (yup I swear that 30 min drive makes all the difference) We call Rhode Islanders stoopit eyetalyans and they call us Massholes...well enough about me...thanks that was fun! ps french fries dipped in cabinets are the bomb! |

That really is incredible that you know those people, Bonnie. DH even found it amazing and I know that he definitely knows just how small R.I. is! i keep telling him that he has a problem speaking when his "smart phone" doesn't understand him - and he doesn't even have the accent!!!! |

Our corporate offices are in Rhode Island, and I LOVE calling our help desk or HR department--the accents crack me up! "For aawwl third paarty rejects, press awwption number 3..." Although I'm sure they find our southern drawls equally amusing. |
