I'm on some kind of a kick now and I've been looking all over but can't find an audio by Sam Elliott. Can you believe that no one seems to have asked him to narrate an audio book??? I don't suppose that anybody here knows of one, huh?

Have any of you seen that movie called 'Lifeguard' where he walks around in a speedo at age 25?   OMG  I love Sam Elliott!

Well, here's a Mark Twain where he's done some of the readings -- that do ya?

I couldn't find anything to click on to listen to Beth and the libraries that supposedly have this aren't in my area. Am I missing something here? I'll look it over tomorrow when I'm not so tired!

<<Am I missing something here?>>

Not that I know of -- it is just a listing with the bibliographic info.  A bunch of my local libraries have it, so if yours doesn't, they should be able to get it via InterLibrary Loan.  Or check your library's online audios (if they offer them), to see if it is available that way.

Pamela, do you have some secret Sam Elliot connection you're not sharing? devil

No secret connection...Sam Elliott and Robert Duvall are my secret crushes.  I like some of the younger guys but these are the kinda guys I have grown old with and I still think they are talented and sexy as hell.  Another one is Jeff Bridges...swoon...

Since we're swooning, can I get an audio book read by Sean Bean? Plus, another vote of Robert Duvall.

Sean Bean we can do -- I know he's read some of the Sharpe books on audio, and my husband has listened and said he's great (I mean, he is Sharpe, so he should be).

I know he's also narrated a couple of kids books, a book about soccer and a version of King Arthur, among other things.

Robert Duvall does help narrate the National Endowment for the Arts' reader guide for To Kill a Mockingbird.  http://www.neabigread.org/books/mockingbird/radioshow.php

OMG, yes DW, Sean Bean is another one whose voice just makes me swoon, lol. What is it that makes men with deep voices so sexy?

Is there a database somewhere that lists the readers of audiobooks?

AudioFile Magazine has a lot of good info on audio books and narrators, they rate em, rank em, give out "golden earphones" awards, etc.  Amazon frequently includes their reviews with audio books.

http://www.audiofilemagazine.com

You can get a free webpass to view reviews and other things here: http://www.audiofilemagazine.com/webpass.html

They do audio samples for a number of items they review, which we find helpful (my hubby reads audio books, I don't; I'm just his ... book pimp?) devil

You can try searching here on PBS for the reader of your choice in the author field -- I edit truckloads of audio book records, and am always trying to add that info whenever I can.

Other than that, I generally just Google "Famous Person" and audiobook (sometimes "audio book" as 2 words; also sometimes the terms "reader" or "narrator") and find stuff that way.  Insert standard disclaimer here about being careful when sampling audio files from unknown websites -- you might get more than you bargained for.

Poo. My local library had the King Arthur book on the shelf. It suppose to come with the Sean Bean CD, but alas. The CD has been lost. So disappointed and slightly embarassed that I had to tell the librarian to reshelve it since Sean Bean was the only reason I was interested it. blush
