I posted ten of the books of the Stephanie Plum  series  to my bookshelf last night.  If you need any to complete the series or to start the series check them out.  I've read lots of great reviews of these books but I just couldnt get into them.  Just not for me but many others love them and say they're hysterically funny.

Sheryl, that's ok.  You can't like every book; and I hope no one takes me as putting them down.  I'm not,  As I think about it, I don't know if I've read many books that really....... make me laugh.........They are disappearing quickly from my bookshelf!

I bought the audio the day it came out, but haven't had time to download it and put it on my MP3 player. Probably a good thing anyway, I've been listening to other things while I work, and I like to concentrate on JE the first time I listen to a new one.

I have to say- my aunt sort of forced Janet Evanovich on me. I don't tend to go for massively popular books (or movies) and figured I wouldn't care for them, but she just knew I would love them and read "Plum Lovin'" when she sent it to me. While it wasn't a book I would of went and bought for myself, I did find myself laughing, and enjoying the break from my usual cozy mysteries.

I don't know that I am going to read all of them, but they are fun and I have liked having an author in common with a beloved aunt to discuss books by. :-)

And, they are different enough from my usual authors that when I feel my head pounding from too much of series of cozies I have been reading, I can read the "Stephanie Plum" books as a "palette cleanser".

Grandma Mazur alone is reason enough to read the book.  LOL  Add in Lula and I'll laugh through the whole darn book.  I loved the one she tried to do the low-carb diet and was carrying around bacon in her purse.  The neighborhood dogs were following her down the street trying to steal her purse.

Hubby thinks I'm nuts whenever a new Stephanie Plum comes out because I sit there and giggle.

Was anyone else disappointed with Fourteen? I don't read the series, but my wife was deeply disappointed in this book and said it almost made her wonder whether JE didn't write it.

I really enjoyed 14. It may be better if you have read the others, her character has developed a lot over the past few, and its nice not to see her making the same mistakes over and over again. I do wish there had been more apprehensions, and I missed Gma Mazur. This one has a lot less romantic tension then most of the others also, which may disappoint some people, but did not bother me.

I think they are especially enjoyable to me also because I live right near the 'Burg, where they take place.  It's funny to read about St. Francis Hospital, Hamilton Ave., and Chambers St., when I used to work on Chambers!

My sister in VA was so excited when she read about Quakerbridge Mall in one of the books, because she and I have gone there many times.  it's the closest mall to my house, and less than a mile from my office.

I finished 7 last night.  Today I started The Front by Patricia Cornwell.  I'll probably start a thread on it when I'm done...

I just finished Fourteen....I liked it, but it wasn't as light-hearted as most of the others.  Stephanie seemed a little more serious to me than she usually is.  Still, I'll take a bad Plum over a lot of things any day of the week.
