This is the first book I sent with PBS electronic postage and DC - DC said it was delivered on the 4th so I PMed the sender, she said she hasn't received it.  I looked closer at the DC info and this is what I found:

Sounds like a PO screw up. Jessie, follow these instructions for Lost Book. They are also used for a misdelivered book.

I would also re-print the wrapper (you will not be charged again) so you have proof of where it was addressed to match with the DC number.

If a book you sent is declared Lost in the Mail at PBS:

  • As the sender, you should call 800-ASK-USPS or go to https://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/mailthft/mlntrcvd.htm (the Postal Inspection Service's website) and input the information online there . This will help USPS try to recover your book if it truly has been lost in the mail.
    • This form at USPS is titled "Mail Theft"
    • This does  not mean only theft of mail.  USPS categorizes any mail that does not arrive or that is tampered with as "mail theft".
  • You can get the information about the transaction from the Transaction Archive:
    • Click "Transaction Archive" in the menu under My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site
    • Click the Request Details link on the right of the "lost in mail" transaction
    • If you need more information (such as requestor address) you can ask the requestor in a Personal Message for that information.
      • We are unable to provide member address information outside of the duration of an active transaction, due to the PBS Privacy Policy.
      • You can use the button on the transaction to contact the requestor.
  • If USPS does return your book to you, and it is undamaged:
    • You should ask the requestor (using the button on the Lost transaction in your Transaction Archive) if she still wants it.
    • If she does, you can re-send it.  If she does not, you can repost it.

Thanks, Charlie

I'm not able to print out the label again, but I was able to see all the tracking info/address/dates when I clicked on details.

I went and filled out info on that theft form

I had this happen, too -- a DC book coming to me was delivered clear across the state.  I had to call PO Customer Service, then they told me who to call at the other PO, and then we sorted it out from there....

Jessie- I've been having problems with the new DC.... mine rarely gets recorded in the system... in fact some numbers say that it is not a USPS dc# at all.... so maybe there was a screw up in the DC number given to you.. and the package with that real DC is supposed to be in AL...

ETA; here's an example: Label/Receipt Number: 9102 1655 6135 3000 0513 91 No information is available for this item. Please contact the sender.

Package was delivered on 10/17...... PBS site says "info received in Lititz on 10.17" USPS says no information available, yet it was delivered.....

I've noticed that mine that are delivered have the dates and scanning places all out of order.  Very odd!

They have been having problems with the DC lately. Many of my swap books have arrived and never been scanned. Supposedly it has been corrected according to a thread regarding DC problems in the UPS forum.

I have one right now that finally got posted after being sent on the 12th. The DC finally became available here and it states it was mailed the 12th, delivered the 15th (to Utah, in three days, I don't think so), and my post office in OH received confirmation on the 18th. I am anxiously awaiting if the swap person received the book yet or not.

The received didn't get the book though.  It's now gone "lost"
