Hello,

Is it within PBS guidelines to offer to swap/sell points from another book swap site?

It seems to me like I see it happening but I am not sure it is OK

You have to post an add in the Book Bazaar:  "I need PBS credits- please PM me for details" and then tell anyone who PMs you what you have in trade.

I see people offering points for money on Paypal. If post a message as you suggest, above, then can I offer points from PBS or another swap site for money?

Yes, but do it in PM, do not be open with your negotiations. Both out of courtesy and respect for the site (smack in the face that you want to trade on another site) and because they asked that it be done that way.

You ARE allowed to blatantly sell your PBS credits for money, using Paypal or whatever.  This can be done openly.  You ARE NOT allowed to blatantly trade your credits on other sites for PBS credits, it has to be done the way Sherry and L suggest.  You can NEVER sell your points/credits from other sites here for just cash/Paypal, you need to do that on the other site itself.

Hope that clarifies things.

In case it helps clarify, the rules posting in the Book Bazaar states:

" (3) No selling books for anything but credits, and no offering anything but books for credits. Freebies/incentives can be "non-swappable" items, but remember that non-Media-Mail eligible items CANNOT be sent using Media Mail postal rate. For example, DVDs and VHS tapes and magazines and pamphlets/booklets without ISBNs are all NOT permitted to be posted at PBS; they can all be offered as freebies/incentives, though. But if the freebie/incentive items contain advertising (ie, magazines or booklets bought at a supermarket checkout stand), or are not Media items (anything but books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes) they can't be sent Media Mail, so the whole package will have to go by another shipping rate. DVDs/VHS tapes/CDs can be sent using Media Mail postal rate."

Cheers,

Catt

But most of those other sites usually allow you to trade credits anyway you want ...so why not post over there?     Does that make sense?  In otherwords head over to that not PBS site and post...

Wanted! PBS credits for not PBS credits or vice versa.

I'm on one of the other sites, and I've posted several times on their site asking to swap credits for PBS credits 1 for 1.  NO takers!   I have also posted here and had a couple of people take me up on the offer.  I still have 15 credits from the other site that I would LOVE to swap (hint, hint).  I have checked out many other sites, and none of them have anywhere near as many books as PBS.  Kudos to the powers that be for creating such a wonderful site!!
