...the order timed out last week, and there were no others in the system. The book is back on my WL. Now guess what showed up in my mailbox today? Yes indeed, the book I ordered. Now what do I do? LOL.

And FWIW, the book is borderline unpostable. Sometimes I just want to bang my head on my desk, y'know?

You will need to go into your Transaction Archive and mark it received from there. When you mark it this way it does not automatically remove it from your wish list so you'll want to go there and remove it from that list.

The book should be on your transaction archive. You can mark it received from there.

And if it's unpostable, mark it RWAP.

I had this happen yesterday - the book arrived, I went to mark it received and found where it hadn't any indication that it had been sent.  I PMd the sender (still no response from her, but when I went to her site, she hadn't been on in 6 days). Went to HELP DESK, who told me what to do.  So this morning when it showed up canceled (and it was a WLd book), I went to the Archives, marked it received and then went to my WL and canceled it.  Funny thing is, it had a DC on it too.  LOL.   Pat

How is the book borderline unpostable?  Some books will end their postability with you. Don't mark it RWP unless it is truly unpostable.

If the sender doesn't mark the book mailed, you don't get an option to mark the book received :-(

???? Yes, you do Denise. The [Was This Book Received] button is on the book in the Transaction Archive (once it times out) and you must mark it received there is you haven't received another copy through the system.

I didn't mark it RWAP--I felt it was borderline unpostable but it would probably have stopped with me, anyway. Went to the Transaction Archive and marked it received. Thanks for helping me out--it looks like the sender didn't manage to get it marked mailed after she had already mailed it. This way she'll get the credit.

This same thing has happened to me twice in the last month. Both were on my WL with me the only one wishing, both  timed out and were canceled in the system then went back on my wishlist and both came in a few days later. But, luckily?,  this had happened to me before so I knew what to do in order to mark them received.

I wish I had this problem.  I ordered 9 books Saturday and today three are still unacknowledged by the poster.  Unfortunately, the books not accepted will time out today with no others in the system.

I did send polite PMs today asking if they still had the books listed on the site.  Hoping this will nudge them to acknowledge them.

Why do people post books and then do not acknowledge when a request is made for one?

I have had several books in the past few weeks time out (means waiting 5 days per each person) with a few of those going through more than one lister before finally being acknowledged and shipped.

Guess I will be buying these from Marketplace instead.

Sorry, it is just frustrating to have someone with a book on their shelf that has been requested and not acknowledge it.  I think some do it to avoid RC issues.  Also had one that the lister claimed did not meet RC (which basically repeat PBS rules) yet the book was also removed from the system....makes one wonder if it ever did meet PBS posting standards.  (I checked their bookshelf after it was cancelled for not meeting RCs and it was not there any more).

Apologies, done venting, for now.... :)

Sometimes people join PBS just for the 2 free credits.  Sometimes they join then no one wants their books for a while and so they lose interest.  Sometimes they think "hey this looks like fun" and then don't realize that you have to pay attention to the account and then wrap books and mail them and such.  It seems like work to them and so they just abandon their accounts.

It's also vacation season and people may have forgotten to put their accounts on hold if hey aren't super active with PBS. I would never forget because I'm here everyday.  But the last tiem I went on vacation I forgot ot put my Swapadvd account on hold because I hardly ever use it.  Luckily I did not lose out on any WL dvd offers.  It never entered my mind to put it on hold. So someone who doesn't do that much with PBS may not have thought about it to put it on vacation.

Also everytime PBS is mentioned in a big magazine, a news show or something we get an influx of people joining and then many of them just forget about their account.
