I saw it last night at the grocery store. They stocked up on their selection sometime that evening because there was no missing books. I was browsing through them and there it was. Hidden Currents by Christine Feehan. Of course I picked it up and couldn't wait to start it. Don't you just love it that the grocery stores have books out before their release dates! I finished it this morning. I loved it! I'm not going to say anything more, I don't want to spoil it for anyone. But I will say this, loved the ending! It's a great way to end the series. I'm going to miss the Drake sisters.

You can get it online at Walmart.com. I've used their Site to Store before and that way there's no shipping charges. |

I read this last night. Overall, I really liked it. This is a big departure from the way the rest of the Drake stories were handled. Very dark with horrific abuse as an important theme. That will definitely be a problem for some. However, I doubt it's much of a spoiler to say "love conquers all" at the end. Supposedly this is the end to the series, and it does wrape up the Drake Sisters storyline fairly well. But it leaves at least a couple big questions that seem like the doors to future books, or at least the possibility of more stories. After all Ilya (Joley's mate) is the seventh son in a set of pyschic brothers similar to the Drake sisters. One of his brothers makes a brief appearance in this book. I wonder if that's an avenue for future stories. I'd love to discuss the events and questions I have about this story. Anyone else interested? We could start a discussion thread and identify that it would contain spoliers. There is a question I'd ask those of you who are about to read the book so you can watch for the answer. I didn't start this one until almost 10pm and I read books in one sitting, so it was getting late and I was fading a bit towards the end. Maybe I missed something obvious. At one point the sisters ask exactly what Jackson can do (psychically) - what his talents are. Elle deflects the question as if this is a big secret. Yes, he's psychic and can connect with Elle and maybe others, is more intuitve, etc. I'm sure he's psychically strong. But I never figured out a huge specific talent. (Hannah controls the wind, Abby communicates with animals, Illya can mentally control people and sometimes move things to some extent.) Maybe I missed something. Watch out for me as you are reading and maybe you'll notice what I missed. Important - if anyone considers that question too much of spoiler, speak up and I'll edit posting this to remove that part.

Hi Jo! I know Jackson can enter the shadow world (remember Kate's book) but I don't think Feehan really says what his abilities are. Just what you said... intuitive, psychically strong, telepathic. But these we found out throughout the series. Anyone know what her new series is about? Just wondering if we will find out more about Ilya's brothers. |

I got it last week at Wally World. The cover is totally different than what is here on PBS so don't let that throw you! |

Her web site has her new series name as "Water Bound", but I can't find out what it is about. It would be neat if it were about Ilya's family. |

This is probably bordering on a spoiler, so skip it if concerned. Or if some of you think I should remove it, just let me know. --------------------- Sonja - like I said, I enjoyed it overall and thought it was a good conclusion to the series. There were some weak elements (aren't there always?), and it was a very surprising book. But be aware there's a solid contingent of readers who are very offended by the abuse. They think Feehan went way over the top with what she wrote and trivialized an abused woman's ability to recover from such an event and jump into a relationship. For myself, I did think it was probably more detailed than necessary. As for a speedy recovery - not that it was effortless by any means - I attributed this to the sisters' abilities to heal and lend strength, not only physically but psychically. So just be prepared for that element. |
