Seriously, I'm about to start gnawing at the fingers.  I'm not even prefacing, just look at this description from Machiavelli: The Prince :

"This book is not perfect but too good to just pitch. It is a hardback with a decorative design on the cover. It is oversized and solid. The paper is of a high quality.
NOTE: The entire spine is exposed (worn away) but he book has much, much wear left.
If you order this volume do NOT complain that it is not perfect. I insist I get credit. Thanks~!"

Not only is in the "book description" it's also the review!!  BWARRRGH!!!!

edited for formatting.

update:  I sent a message to PBS about it.  It just shocks me that it disregards the rules for posting, as well as the guidelines for what a book description and review are supposed to contain, all with that attitude..."do NOT complain...I insist"

update again:  PBS works FAST!  Issue resolved, but I'm leaving this for entertainment purposes, because that's STILL crazy lol.

That's pretty funny. At least there's no question about who posted it. The one review has the exact same thing.

It's curious though. How did she manage to get it put into two different categories? Whenever I post a new book, I have to choose a single category.

You know, I'm tempted to mark that the "review" is helpful. No way, I'd want to order this nightmare. ;-)

I'll post the link in thread about cleaning up reviews and maybe it can be dealt with that way.  If enough people mark a review unhelpful it will eventually get removed (by the system, I think)

I've seen "reviews" like that in the past. It is pretty annoying. I've never thought of reporting it though to PBS. I'll do that next time though. Thanks for the tip.

The review you mentioned though is still there. I would think they'd delete it since it is useless.

That review was done like two years ago Im sure the person that did it has either learned better or is long gone by now.

James--

Mark those types of reviews as "not helpful" (thumbs down) and eventually it gets cleared out by the system when enough folks give it a thumbs down.  I see you've already enlisted the help of the review-cleaning thread, but in case others need it, here it is: http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=61587

<<How did she manage to get it put into two different categories? Whenever I post a new book, I have to choose a single category.>>

Older book data had multiple subject headings/subheadings attached to it, as well as data drawn from other sources (like Amazon).  Once a human edits the record now, however, it can only have one subject heading/subheading.

Cheers,

Catt

Is the review gone?  I tried James' link and it brought up a page with two other books.

It's completely removed, as if the book never existed...I didn't know they could do that, but I'll take it!

I actually had added the book to the Review Clean-up thread, but again, it's not there so HUZZAH!!

Granted the review had been there for 2 years, the listing was still being used for a book that was available in the system (had the Order button instead of the Post button), and in the event that the same person had the book or if someone else had posted the same book after having requested it, however long ago, I felt it was a violation of several rules (and ridiculous to boot).  So there.

Thanks to TPTB for their swiftness, as well as allowing us the opportunity to do our part instead of trying to handle the sillier problems such as this while maintaining the more difficult aspects of this perpetually awesome site.
