Happy 73rd Birthday to my witty, funny, wonderful, loving, well-read & oh-so-smart Mom! Linda had a very successful career in education, raised me and my three younger brothers, supported my Dad through a couple of career changes, and was a wonderful daughter & daughter-in-law. And now, as the Matriarch at the top of our family tree, Mom remains an inspiration to me and my daughter and the rest of my family. Happy Birthday, Mom! |

Birthday greetings from Mexico! I hope that someday my daughter will pay as nice a tribute to me (instead of rolling her eyes as she is wont to do). Enjoy your day, Linda...and wishes for a year filled with love and laughter (and good books, of course). |

On Mom's behalf, thank you all for your kind and warm wishes. (I don't get to speak for her too often, so I'm taking full advantage of it now!). We both so enjoy the HF Forum ... and like many of us, find ourselves disappointed during those occasional times when there's not a lot of chatter going on. When TPTB first developed this great paperback swap idea, I wonder if they had any inkling of the bonds and friendships that would form across the miles between people of completely disparate backgrounds! We have celebrated weddings, job promotions and new babies. We mourn the passing of family members, we sympathize with the downturn of good fortune, we share the excitement of an overseas vacaction. We accept each of us for who and what we are without judgment or criticism. We are so much more that just a group of people with a common reading interest! Echoing Christa's very lovely comments, Linda & I are better people by knowing each of you and we feel blessed indeed to be a part of such a great group! Kelly

We accept each of us for who and what we are without judgment or criticism. This ^^^ is what I find is so remarkable about this group. If we got very honest, I think we would find that our religious, political and social views cover both extremes of the spectrum and everything in between. Yet we are able to put all of that aside to support, encourage and celebrate each other. And what's more, because we can do it here, I for one expect to find that same respect among members in other "communities" that I am part of...both online and in person...and so often am disappointed.
