Yes, I know I'm a couple of days late with this.  smiley  Arkansas saw it's first Christmas day snowfall in something like 80 years with totals of more than 16 inches in various places around the state.  I had about 8 inches here and still have not been able to dig my car out.  You must understand that this happens so rarely in Arkansas that the state is ill equipped to handle it in a timely manner.  There are still well over 100,000 homes without power and some not expected to be restored for up to 7 days. This was caused by the freezing rain and sleet that fell for several hours before it transitioned to snow.  I'm so very fortunate to have not lost power!  Anyway, it's been fun in a way since we don't often see this kind of snow at any time of year.  We had some sun yesterday and temps of 35 or so, thawing some of the main streets and highways.  However, temps in the teens last night quickly refroze the slush making for treacherous conditions this morning and so far no sun to heat things up.  Luckily I've been able to work from home.  This morning someone posted a photo of a snow castle on one of our local tv station websites that I just have to share.

Mary, I hope you have power in HS and are warm and safe!

We had a bit of snow on Christmas morning, but it all melted.

Stay cozy and safe at home.

I'm a few days late, but the sentements the same.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Hope everyone who has had bad weather is safe and warm.

We received some snow here on Christmas, but not a ton.  Not enough to go sledding, that's for sure.

Plenty of snow here, but that's not unusual for PA.  I hope everyone is having a peaceful holiday season with lots of good reading time!

Great pic.

Here in Chicago, I arrived home Christmas night to a slight dusting of snow, but nothing else.

How clever - the castle. It's good that someone took a picture of it!

We were away for Christmas, visiting family in Baltimore--we had a white Christmas Eve, but it was mostly melted by noon on Christmas Day....and the drive home the day after Christmas was awful--treacherous snow-covered roads down I-81S until we hit Roanoke, where temperatures were warm enough that it was all rain. It was a large and nasty storm...we slid several times on our way home and it's only thanks to DH's experienced snow driving skills that we did not end up in a ditch--we saw maybe 20-25 cars skidded off the road in all. We hadn't realized it would be so bad or we would have stayed--a 6 hour trip took us 13.

Oh, Colleen -- how awful. Yes, I was very happy that we decided to drive back to Maryland from my mom's in Virginia on Christmas night rather than the next day.

Colleen and Deb, glad you both made it home safely!  That was the same storm that hit us.

Twill, glad you had power, Thanks for thinking of me in HS. My power went off Christmas afternoon & did not return until the following Sat nt LATE!!!!!! I have gas logs (as we call them in AR) so I had heat, but nothing else. So sick of scented candles, etc. It was a horrible experience. I am still doing laundry. Frozen stuff melted in refrig. My Mother is still in hospital with pneumonia. DH was at ER Christmas Day with Mother as power left me, poms, cat, & 55 gal tank of fish. White Christmas-----BAH HUMBUG.
