This was an interesting book, as a look at Alaska, as a story of an unconventional childhood. I have to admit the revealing of the mother's secrets and possibly dishonoring things which she held dear made me a little uncomfortable. The author has every right to describe how events and decisions made her feel - perhaps less to believe that her understanding of her mother's motivations are 100% correct. All in all, it held my interest.
