In a post nuclear-holocaust world of the future, a small group of privileged survivors enter the quarantined Off-limits Zone on a lark expedition. Instead of a diverting amusment they find their hidden prejudices & conceits threaten & shaken to their core. Theroux writes a 'Brave New World' for the 21st century.

Ambitious project, but doesn't quite measure-up to expectations. I struggled with this book and kept hoping I would get into the story and enjoy it...never gave up...but kinda wish I had. This would be a good book to pass on.

I wish the ending was better. Kinda leaves you hanging about several of the main characters. It starts out a bit slow, but picks up. Still a good read. I was hoping there would be a continuation of the story line in a later book.

I like Theroux's non-fiction, but I just never seem to get around to his fiction.
