If you enjoy fiction that makes history come to life, this is a great story about what it might have been like to be a woman doctor in the unenlightened era when women were supposed to be obedient to their husbands in every way. It would take a strong woman to continue in the face of male domination. The Oath is a good story, and leaves you with lots to be thankful for, living in a more enlightened era.
