This book is written in three sections. The first introduces the prim & oh-so-veddy proper English miss & her uptight attitude towards any kind of sex (even kissing). The second sees her traveling, the insular world of the superior English in Africa & her capture by the invading hordes. The third introduces her to the harem & every kind of humiliation & debasement she can think of, and finally her acceptance of such. Graphic, disturbing, & unfortunately, still in practice today in some parts of the world.

The only thing I can say is... Meh. It was okay, but not great. I'm not into historical type stuff, so if you are this one could be for you.

A good read and erotic as well! The sexual passages were at a minimum, though, but they were all very well written and very exciting. Sad, bittersweet tale, it was an historical novel of a young woman captured at the fall of Khartoum in the late 1800's and forced into a life of sexual slavery. The author went to some length to explain how a "civilized" woman could end up, if not happy, then at least content to remain what she had become. Not sure if this is just the author's opinion or whether it represents actual reserach into the minds of those forced into this kind of life. The last chapter brought the reader up to present day (late 1970's-1980's) describing the modern white slave trade which is still operating with deadly efficiency. All in all an excellent book. I recommend it not only to those who care for erotic liertaure, but to anyone who wants to broaden their understanding of this aspect of humans mistreating other humans for profit's sake.
