So, on the Book Bazaar we are allowed to post ARCs in exchange for points.  I think this is great, and I've happily taken advantage of it.  I was wondering if posting magazines in the Book Bazaar was also allowed?  I have several subscriptions, and I'd love to pass the magazines on to interested readers rather than throw them away...but since I'm not sure they're permissable as media mail (due to the advertising content) including them as freebies with regular book swaps isn't very cost effective.

Any advice?

You cannot trade magazines on PBS for credits.  They can't go media mail.  You may be able to trade magazines for magazines with someone but I'm not sure if they'd allow that either.

You can not use credits for anything except books - print and audio.

Why don't you donate your magazines to a nursing home, VA hospital or something similar?  If you've got some of the racier stuff like Cosmo, donate your subscriptions to your favorite salon or spa.  I'm sure any one of these places would enjoy having new reading material.

Many libraries have a magazine exchange where you drop off and pick out what you want. I have 7 libraries in my area where I bring magazines and pick up magazines.  Some of the quality and timeliness of the magazines are incredible. I picked up many recent Atlantic Monthly's, Economist and today I got 30 Coastal Living.

I've never heard of a magazine exchange; perhaps I'll try suggesting it at my local library.  Most of the magazines I read are history or archeology-oriented, and don't seem to have much demand at hospitals or nursing homes.

Thanks for all the quick replies, guys!

I usually recycle what I don't pass on to friends but doctor's offices usually don't mind a donation either. Especially my chiropractor, their magazine selection is terrible.
