I criticized the Smart Bitches website! Someone save me from the hoards of angry fans!

I DON"T KNOW YOU! really don't know this person..please don't attack me 'cause we happen to post on the same forum...have  no idea who she is...

Where did you criticize them and why does it matter?  I don't think I've even ever been to that website.

I've never been to that site, either. They've never been criticized before???????? Dare I ask what happened? <g>

I used to like the site a lot, but I feel like they've gotten... I dunno, really full of themselves, lately, especially in their role as Defenders of Romance.

Can we literally "throw you under the bus"?  Cuz if not, I guess I'll have to grudgingly defend you... and then remind you of it a gazillion times so you'll kiss up to me in the manner I feel entitled to:P  Kidding aside tho... they are a little full of themselves, but I suppose it comes with popularity - and being published, I might add.  Nothing like having a book in hard copy to fan the old ego fire.  Now I guess I'll have to go read that and prep to battle for your honor:P

I have them on my RSS feeder, but I usually don't click on any of the posts for days at a time because it's either about contemporaries (not my bag) or every bloody e-reader device under the sun (I have an ancient reader that I rarely use because I prefer paper). Oh, and the constant giveaway contests. :P Dull.

I much preferred the site when it was mainly affectionate snark about the genre & lolarious reviews & cover snark.  At least there's Mrs. Giggles around for that.

Willa - I agree their site has gotten different since they published Heaving Bosoms.  The book was funny and occasionally insightful, and a very painless literary review of the genre, but I do regret giving it such a high rating on my blog.  You could see in spots where they were so caught up in themselves, they all but browbeat the reader into agreeing.  They've gotten VERY full of themselves as arbiters of romance.  It's like the Sarah & Candy show over there.  I check in once in awhile because they have little to say of interest.  For insight into publishing, I'll take Booksquare and, overall, I still like Dear Author, although they review far too many Harlequin and not enough paranormal.

IMHO - Smart Bitches was always overrated.  But that's me.
