I went to my local library booksale and picked up a bunch of ex-library books. I know that I can post ex-library books here. That isn't my question. When I flipped through the books, I noticed that the first, last, and sometimes both, pages had been ripped out of the book. These are hard bound books, and those are the end pages that in all hard bound books are blank and are ever-so-slightly glued to the cover boards. The part that was glued was left, but the rest of the page was gone. Presumably that is because the library had a book pocket or somesuch on those pages and when the book became an ex-library book, those pages had to go. Anyway, the books are in fantastic condition otherwise. Is it okay to post them with these end pages torn out? Last Edited on: 6/4/09 10:33 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I'd post a thread in the Book Bazzar forum about the books and offer to post them directly to anyone interested in them. I wouldn't put them on my bookshelf. The posting condtions say no torn or missing or loose pages. Even though these are not text pages, they are pages of the book. If it were me, I'd definitely want to describe the condition fully to anyone requesting them so they know what they're getting. |

I think so. Ex-library books are allowed. And, there is a PBS rule about "no missing text pages"; but the key word in there is "text". Missing end pages are OK; or at least not mentioned in the rules. |

I agree with Sara - those pages had no text on them. |

I have posted ex-library books in exactly that condition and received them here as well. I think they are OK to post. I do, however, usually PM the requestor just to clear it with them. I've never had a requestor turn them down. |

It wouldn't bother me to receive them, but I'm not really picky. I'd post them. Ruth |
