I am interested in frontier stories from every point of view and this is a fascinating one. Nebraska in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

One of my favorite books. Gives a very realistic history of how how tough frontier life was and the people that settled in western Nebraska. Highly recommend this book to anyone.

I could hardly put this one down. I love history and "Old Jules" was a page turner for me. This independent Swiss immigrant arrives in Nebraska full of vigor and optimism to homestead on the plains. He digs himself a home and decides having a love in Switzerland is not enough for him, he needs a companion in America. The book follows his life as he faces adversity with one wife after another until he ends up with the one he considers his best. They have a flock of children, he tries to maintain a post office and his large orchard while being one of the most prolific letter writers on the frontier.
