This book was a fun departure from most of Heyer's books that I like--it takes place largely in France in the mid-18th century. The main character, Leonie, is a engaging heroine and fun to read about. The hero's brother, Rupert, made me laugh and kept the pace of the novel moving with his commentary. I enjoyed the book.

One of my favorite all time books. I love Leonie and her Signeur, and I love how Georgette Heyer tied together three generations of the family through "These Old Shades," "Devil's Cub," and "Infamous Army."
