I have three olde hardcover Bobbsey Twins books that I will offer all for 1 credit. These are: "The Bobbsey Twins", "The Bobbsey Twins At the Seashore" and "The Bobbsey Twins In The Country".
These are blue cloth-bound books (no dust jackets), all published by The Goldsmith Publishing Co, Chicago. There are no ISBNs or publishing dates in these books, but I think they are from the 1930s.
These are from the time before things had to be politically correct. Dinah, their "colored" housekeeper, speaks in a heavy dialect. "Suah's yo' lib, we do keep a movin'!" she says at the beginning of one of the books. Also, in one of the books, Flossie takes great pride in having both white and black dolls, but lovingly keeps them separate (!). In these early editions, Freddie and Flossie are only 4, and Bert and Nan are only 8. Yet--Bert tries smoking in one of the stories and nearly burns a barn down! There aren't "mysteries" abounding as there were in the later, lavender books from the 1960s and '70s, as much as many "adventures". The stories are charming, highly enjoyable, and a good glimpse of the past.
These books are in good-to-fair shape, not bad at all considering their age, and the fact that they have been handled by lots of young readers. But, two have ink inscriptions on the inside front page, and one has the initials "TN" inside a heart drawn on the front cover. Otherwise, there is very gentle wear and tear and some very light staining. Again, many small hands at work!
I am offering all three books for one credit.
Please zing me a pm if you can give them a nice new home.
