Should older and more worn books be posted or just stick to really nice ones?

Thanks,

Zee (Still a newbie.)

Older books as long as they aren't falling apart and meet the other conditions for postability should definately be posted. Some people are looking for those rare out of print books.

As someone who is looking for out of print books, please post those older books, as long as they meet the posting guidelines.

I look at my older books to see if they are still in print or if they are out of print.  An out of print older book is often very hard to find and rarely posted.  So folks are thrilled to get one.

For some of my 40 year old paperbacks, I'll select the last mail date and PM the person to make them aware of the book condition.  While they are post able, they are often yellow and brittle.  I'll add a layer of cardboard to the package to prevent the old spines from cracking.

I don't always post my older copies of easy to find common books even if they are postable.  But if it's a book that's hard to find, out of print or just a few in the system then I post them.  But if I have a older book showing more than a bit of wear and there's plenty in the system then I'm more likely to just donate the book.

Even if it's not postable. if it's an out of print, wishlisted, you might post in the bazaar describing it. You can ask for a credit. If it's one that comes up very rarely, they might be happy to find it in unpostable condition.

I am one of those people looking for certain older books to read that I can't find. And I would gladly give a credit for one of the books on my wishlist ---no matter what condition as long as I can read all the words in the story..

I'm here to get books to read, not to collect. As long as the book is readable then I want it especially if it's something out of print or otherwise hard to find.

I sometimes get twitchy sending out frayed, spine-creased, and/or yellowed old paperbacks. I really like people to get shiny-clean books from me. I just have to keep telling myself "it's postable, it's postable..." and I get over it.
