I loved this book, very heartwarming. Draws you into a different time with rich characters and emotions. I became a Janette Oke fan instantly!

This was the first story that I read written by Janette Oke. I had seen her books in the Christian Book stores but never had the chance to read them. Once I retired from teaching and I read this first book of the series, I could not put her books down. I have read every one of her books and thoroughly enjoyed them all. What I like most about her writing is the fact that she is always in your mind as she writes about the events happening to her characters. I identify with her characters thoughts as do most people.

Excellent read--this is really two books in one. the other is The Winds of Autumn. Both are very good and if you like Janette Oke--you know you are getting a good read and a ood deal--two for one.
