I was listening to ESPN radio the other day and this guy, what's his name? Freddy Coleman? He said that he couldn't care less about the Olympics.

Wow. I feel like the only one who is waiting for it to start. No one else is really discussing it.

Anyone else waiting?

The only things I really watch is the equestrian and gymnastics. They are the most interesting to me, but that's cuz I have horses and ride every day & i used to do gymnastics.

I am eager!  I can't wait for Track & Field, Diving, Swimming and...BMX (I think they added that this year).  Well, I'll probably watch everything except Equestian, water polo, beach volleyball, and Synchronized Swimming (which just kind of freaks me out).  I do find it a little difficult to get excited about the pro athletes in basketball, tennis, etc.  I'm one of those people who like to cheer for the underdog.  It's hard to feel that same pride for multi-millionaires, especially when you know that they will go back to their pro careers and million dollar contracts whether the Olympics work for them or not.

I am very eager for the opening ceremonies and to see what China presents.  I may be the only person who cries when the athletes walk out under their country flags.  Especially those countries where it's only 1 or 2 athletes.  To me that's the true Olympic spirit.  The athlete who comes, who has no chance whatsoever, but they are proud to be there anyway.

It is amazing to me that there are so few threads about the Olympics.   All the gossipy threads and something like this happens and few seem to care.  Maybe the talk on the games will heat up once the games start.   This is something that I always look forward to.

I'm one of the few people who doesn't really care for the gymnastics events, nor do I care about the figure skating events (I do like speed skating) in the winter olympics.

What I'll definitely be watching are Team USA (men & women) basketball games (I know they're pros, but I love basketball), the swimming and diving events, the canoe & kayak events, and archery, shooting and fencing.

I have been waiting for it all to start.. but I definitely understand what you are saying... it seems like it really hasn't been alot of build-up.  Unfortunately, I think alot of it is in the way things are being handled... (I am definitely NOT trying to turn this into a political discussion) but I feel like lately with the olympics that is all you hear about.  And to me it is a shame... politics aside, it is still the olympics and the athletes ahve worked thier entire lives to get to this point.

I am definitely eager to see what happens!  Soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, diving and sychronized swimming are the ones I love to see!

I also like archery. I agree, the Olympics don't seem like a big deal, but to the athletes, it's what they've always dreamed of.
