FOR EACH, THERE COULD BE ONLY ONE — They came from the darkest places: secluded monasteries, the Carpathian mountains, galaxies under siege. They were men with the blackest pasts -- warriors, vampire monks, leaders of armies -- but whose passions burned like dying stars. They had but one purpose: to find those women who fulfilled them, completed ...  more »

This book consists of three short stories. I purchased it for the Christine Feehan story...which was very good. I did thoroughly enjoy the other two..one was set in the future and was a love story between a raider and a scientists part of a community living underground following defeat by warriors. The other told the story of a "newer" vampire trying to come to grips with what she was. They were all good...but short!

Three dark romance stories unfold within this single novel.
First is Dark Descent by Christine Feehan. Joie Sanders was one of the best bodyguards around. Wounded during duty, she ended up in a hospital for treatment. Joie dealt with the pain by imagining herself in the mountains. It was a trick she had often used, never suspecting that she really was traveling outside her body. In those mountains she met Traian. He was wounded as well and lay in a dark cave. Once their minds touched Joie could not escape Traian's voice. He had linked with her, knowing instantly that she was "the one". He had waited several life times for her.

The second is The Star Queen by Susan Grant. Romjha B'kak was leader of an elite group called Raiders. Tai Sai was th group's bombmaker. The group was about to meet some royal outsiders from the stars that would change their lives!

The third is Sacrilege by Susan Squires. Magda had been at the Mirso Monastery to overcome her addiction of taking the last drop of blood from her victims. Those within the monastery taught against pleasure and emotions. Love was to be avoided at all costs. Those who failed the teachings were hunted down by the Harrier and executed. When Brother Pietr believed Magda ready, he sent her to San Francisco. She was met by Davinoff and helped to blend in. But Pietr had done the unthinkable. He had fallen in love with Magda. When his mentor, Rubius, found out of Pietr's feelings, he sent the Harrier out to assassinate Magda, though she had done no wrong!

This is three short stories. Susan Squires "Sacrilege" is an approach to vampirism that I have never read before. Magda is a "made" vamp as opposed to being a "born" vamp. Her maker no longer cares for her and has replaced her by making another (Sarah) that he loves.

Heart-broken, Magda feeds her despair by using her beauty to entrap men and leaves bodies all over the place because she can't stop feeding and drains her victims to the last drop. Julien, her maker, sends her to a monastery to be cured of her addiction for blood.

Very interesting story about vamps.

I love the author Feehan! I thought Dark Descent was full of humor, and sexy steam. I love the way she goes so indepth with her descriptions. I love the way she uses her words and breaks some rules. I find it to be more entertaining, not like the norm and I'm all for that. In this short story Joie is one tuff lady that isn't afraid of danger. She goes on vacation after being shot in the line of duty. Her vacation changes her life........I highly recommend this book with 5 stars.

As with all of Christine Feehan's Dark Series books, this was good. But just waay too short! Most of the books are much longer but for whatever reason, she shared a binding with other authors on this one.

The stories submitted were excellent. If I remember correctly, I think there was only one that I was not in total love with but each story touches upon a different genre. A touch of outer space, a caress of teeth and lips and a smidgon of contemporary.
