A website promoting what they call "domestic discipline in a christian marriage". Wow. www.christiandomesticdiscipline.com |

Leave it to the Christians to find a reason that a man should discipline(abuse) his wife , that is disturbing and ignorant on so many levels. |

Did not go to far into the site, but it looks to me like an excuse for some B&D/S&M in a christian framework. As long as everyone in the relationship is on board with it, I dont have a problem with it. But it seems a bit hypocritical to slap a new name on something jsut to make yourself feel less guilty.

I don't think it's S&M in a Christian framework, after looking at the site in depth. It's all about how a woman is subservient to a man and promoting this as a biologial law/God's law. |

Even if it is just S&M dressed up with God and Jesus thrown around, at least call it what it is...I just found this whole thing wierd! |

Krista: Don't be too "worked up" about that odd macho-emphatic website , , , , the basis for that CDD stuff seems to be a couple of verses in:The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians (in the so-called 'New Testament'). So, I would strongly suggest that it is Paul's idea---"Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior." You need to remember that Paul's sermons and letters to all those cities he traveled around to were a campaign to 'sell' people on Paul's vision of the significance of Jesus' ministry. (Personally, I believe Paul was shrewd enough to incorporate a good deal of the cultural values and customs of his audiences to put that vision across.) I think that the Pauline epistles (to the Romans, the Corinthians, the Galatians, the Ephesians, the Philippians, the Colossians, and the Thessalonians) bear out such a belief. How does this reading strike you? Last Edited on: 10/19/10 6:44 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Last year I was lucky enough to visit ancient Ephesus. I stood in the theatre where Paul preached Christianity to the city, and he was not welcomed. I loved it. |
