Jamie is traumatized when she witnesses a killing spree as a teen and lives in safety and secret for years. Then, another body from the killing is found and Kell, a Texas Ranger, comes to ensure her continued safety. Sparks fly and the sex is great, but the "mystery" and its solution are pretty unbelievable. The author also brought up issues that were never fully addressed or explained. We're told Jamie's father loved her mother very much but left because he couldn't handle what had happened to Jamie. Leaving it at that without connecting it to anything else didn't make sense to me.
Interesting story line in this one - Jamie is the sole survivor of a killer's rampage, and Kell is the Texas Ranger investigating the case. I found the story did not have a lot of structure as it is only a short Blaze novel, but I applaud Alison Kent's efforts to reach out into this interesting terrain.
