I've been the only person in line for a WL book for several weeks.  This morning I noticed the book was last posted two days ago. Any idea why it wasn't offered to me?

It may have been a different version of the book (hardcover vs. paperback, or large print, or audio...)

It is possible someone shipped it to a friend, maybe they offered it to someone who added it to their WL and then they posted it directly to them, or it could be that a copy went Lost in the mail and that person got put back on the list in the first position right before a copy was posted.

What book was it? Perhaps it was offered in one of the WL genre threads. I saw that happen with a book I was the only wisher for; instead of posting it FIFO, it was offered in the genre thread and I saw the post. I eventually got the book, but it kinda sucked seeing it posted in the WL genre thread when I was antsy for it. Someone else got it, of course. Hopefully another copy will be posted soon for you.

Yup, most likely it was posted directly to somebody's WL. Also, somebody could have been on hold before you, unholded it and the book was posted to them before you noticed (this would be rare if the book is rarely posted but could have happened.)

Well, yuck.  I didn't realize people can post WL books on the message boards.  That's probably what happened in this case because it looks like it's only available in one format and isn't posted very often.  Guess I'll just keep on waitin'.....

The WL threads started as an attempt to ship multiple books to people to save on postage.  Most of the active genre threads have a new one that starts every month.  There's even one going in the book bazaar now. You don't have to actively post on the boards to use them.  Just check them frequently.

It could also have been posted to an account that's on hold. In that case, it's waiting on the member's shelf and will be offered to the first person on the wish list when she ends her vacation hold.

Actually this is not true at all for either the Paranormal or the L&R thread.

I was instrumental in starting the paranormal one and we started it because we were tired of  the WL books going from one person to another and then another before getting accepted. This was a way to get the books out a whole lot faster (and not watch it roll over and over) and to someone we knew and was on the forums with.

Never was the requirement that multiples had to be taken. Our only requirement is that if you TOOK from the thread you also offered in the thread.

It's morphed since then into a totally different group and I'm one of the only original members left in the paranormal thread. NOW, the paranormal thread turned into a way to get multiples sent to one person but that certainly wasn't its original intent.

The L&R thread isn't quite the "multiples only" thing still (thankfully) and many of the original group that started the thread are still hanging about.

I know, and it kind of bums me out. I used to check that Paranormal thread often and I was sometimes able to luck out and snag a book that was on my wish list. Now, unless you're willing to take anywhere from three to all of the books listed you can't get any of them.

I caved in a couple of weeks ago and ordered books one through three of the Molly Harper series. I'd already read the first two books but I really, really wanted that third book! They are all heavily wish listed so I know I can get my credits back but I don't think I'll do that again.
