Does anyone have the kindle touch that has the pop up ads??? If so how often do they pop up and how long do they stay on the screen??  And does it bother you when you are reading.

Thank you all for your help.  I did get the one without the offers only because I found a great deal.  I got the kindle, case and the adapter  all for 116.98.

The kindle alone would have been 139.99.

now another question

I have a bunch of books that I have downloaded into the cloud reader.  Will I be able to transfer them to my kindle when I get it??  Please say yes LOL

pop ups?  do you mean the Kindle Touch with special offers, or is there something new i haven't heard of?

if it's the one with special offers, they aren't popups and don't show up at all while you're reading.  you basically get the ads as screensavers when your Kindle is not on, and when it's showing you lists (like lists of books or collections) you have an ad at the bottom so you get one less item on a page than you would if you had it without the special offers.  neither is particularly intrusive, especially if you keep it in a cover or sleeve when it's off anyway.

and hey - the night a few weeks ago i turned it off after reading and got the screensaver offer for a $10 amazon GC for $5 was excellent.  :)

They're always on the bottom of the home screen, but not on the bottom of the screen inside the books.

I posted a Youtube link in the other thread that shows the adds.

Another thing to note is that you can pay Amazon the difference in price between the "with special offers" model and the one without, and they'll remove the ads.

So, you can always get the model with the special offers and if you find they disturb you in any way, you can pay to have them removed.  You're not permenantly committed to having the ads.

I don't find them disruptive though.  They're not on the screen while you're reading, just while it's in sleep mode or in the home screen where you select your book.  And they do advertise good deals about once a month or so.

Good deal. Bertie! Yes when it arrives, after you've registered it, go to your Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon and you select the books you want and tell them to go to your Kindle. Easy! (Except this hasn't been working for my in Google Chrome lately...grr...works fine in Firefox)
